Permanent Rebellion
"Permanent Rebellion" is a collaborative project that pays homage to the influential Riot Grrrl movement of the 1990s. Rooted in feminist punk rock ethos, this endeavor combines photography, art direction, and collage to capture the raw energy and unapologetic spirit of Riot Grrrl.
Working alongside a talented friend behind the lens, I directed a photoshoot that sought to encapsulate the essence of Riot Grrrl rebellion. Each frame captured the fierce individuality and defiance of the subjects, channeling the DIY ethos and activist fervor that defined the movement.
From the visceral intensity of live performances to the intimate moments of camaraderie backstage, the photographs served as a visual narrative of empowerment and solidarity. Drawing inspiration from Riot Grrrl icons such as Kathleen Hanna and Bikini Kill, we sought to evoke a sense of urgency and authenticity in every shot.
Building upon these raw materials, I meticulously crafted a collage that served as a visual manifesto for the project. Incorporating elements of punk aesthetics, feminist iconography, and bold typography, the collage echoed the DIY spirit of Riot Grrrl zine culture while celebrating the diversity and resilience of contemporary voices.
